Fatal Fire: CT Man Found In Basement Following Blaze, Police Say

The fire took place in Hartford County around 10 p.m., Monday, May 1 in Bristol on Steele Road.

Bristol firefighters and police officers responded to the call for an active structure fire, said Bristol Police Lt. Patrick Krajewski.

“As firefighters searched the home, they located an elderly male in the basement, who they removed to an awaiting ambulance where lifesaving measures were taken,” Krajewski said.

Krajewski said the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Another resident was able to make it out of the home safely, he added.

The name of the victim has not been released pending notification of family members.

The Bristol Fire Department is investigating the blaze.
